Transforming into Dinosaur Did Not Help ‘Normal Man’

Gil Heredia, the ATOM Labs maintenance worker who fell into a vat of chemicals several weeks ago, is still in critical condition, and transforming into a dinosaur didn’t help his recovery.

When the Dino-Day Disaster happened, Heredia, who has been on life support at ATOM Labs, was changed into a Deinonychus.  The scientists monitoring him did not notice any change in his vital signs or any new superpowers.  “We thought, ‘Oh, this is going to trigger something finally,’” said lead biologist Carlos Montero.  “We thought that he was going to get dinosaur powers or at least stay transformed as a dinosaur.  Finally, he’d be on the upswing.  But nothing.”

“It’s like he doesn’t want superpowers.”

After the Dino-Ray was shut down, Heredia, along with everyone else at ATOM Labs, turned back to human.  Heredia’s injuries had remained during his transformation, and briefly becoming a dinosaur didn’t seem to accelerate his healing ability either.  “It was just the same old, same old,” said Montero.  “If anything, being turned into a dinosaur only made things worse.  Poor guy.”

Heredia’s family, who have asked for privacy throughout the matter, have seemed more distraught than normal.  With his recent downturn, those closest to the family get the sense that Heredia may pass away soon, unless of course he develops superpowers, but that seems unlikely.

    Blue Light Emanating from Tower

Now, the Grainger Tower is emitting a strange blue light.

So far, I have not experienced any new changes to my body or mind, and neither has anyone around me.  Dinosaur Queen’s magic “Dino-Ray” was largely colorless, and it moved in and around buildings.  But this light is moving from the top of the tower into the sky, and then spread out in a circle.  It looked like it was creating a dome over the city.

This looks like a force field.  I’ve seen other madmen use a similar blue energy as force fields before, and given the fluidity of the “Dino-Ray” near the edge of the city, it would make sense if it were.  The Dinosaur Queen would want to keep everyone inside and keep out any interlopers.

The real question is why she didn’t activate this sooner.  Either she didn’t have the equipment set up right away, or someone stopped it from activating.  Whatever the reason, it’s safe to say we’re staying put.

  • Dino-Ray: 10-Mile Radius

    Dino-Ray: 10-Mile Radius

    By Chase Chapley

The Dino-Ray used to turn every human into a dinosaur apparently has about a 10-mile radius.  Assuming that’s accurate, everyone outside the I-299 beltway should be safe.

I’m hearing this from locals living on the outskirts of New Romford who have traveled past a certain distance away from Downtown.  Once they pass a certain threshold, they’ve reverted back to their human form, albeit naked now.  One resident was flying west (as a Pterodactyl) when he reached this threshold, and then he plummeted to the ground.  He may’ve suffered a few broken bones but seems to be okay from what I’ve been told.

I’m only hearing this through secondhand accounts (texts and phone calls).  Communications are still sketchy, and I’m constantly on the move, pausing only to blog and to get a quick bite to eat, which I’ll talk about later.  A couple of my colleagues are gathering information right now, and hopefully then I’ll have some firsthand accounts (preferably pictures or videos).

But it does seem that we can exit the sphere of the Dino-Ray and become human again.  It’s likely the Dinosaur Queen knows this, and knows that we know this, so I’d recommend heading outside of the sphere a.s.a.p.  The center seems to be Grainger Tower.  We might not have this chance for very long.
